Youth Registration: $20 (14 + under)

What is the race route?

Is this event dog friendly?

Yes, Run for the Paws is the only 5K in Western NC that encourages dog participation — we just love ‘em! Please note that all dogs must be leashed, well behaved and up-to-date on their shots. For safety reasons, we ask that no retractable leashes be used at the event.

Do I have to run/walk with a dog? Can I run/walk with a Brother Wolf dog?

You are not required to bring a dog with you; many people at the event will be running/walking without dogs.

If you have taken the proper volunteer training classes and are cleared by Brother Wolf to pick up a dog from the Adoption Center and take them on an outing, we welcome you to make the Walkathon your outing for the day! Please make sure to coordinate this with our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@bwar.org. And let the Adoption Center staff know where you are taking the dog so that they can make sure you take a dog who would enjoy an event environment.

Is this event kid friendly?

Yes, bring the whole family! Children six and under do not need to register in order to participate. However, please note that since they are not registered participants, they will not receive an event T-shirt and will not be timed.

Do I have to register my child?

Anyone seven years old and above needs to be registered for the event in order to participate.

Can I register a whole group?

Yes, we love teams! Get your family, friends, book club, exercise group or school group together and register as a team. Teams who raise funds for the animals of Brother Wolf have a chance to win our grand prize for Team Fundraisers — check out the Prizes page for more info.

Can I walk instead of run?

Yes, a lot of participants choose to walk. The walk is one mile and begins after the run.

Why should I participate?

Run or walk because you believe that every animal deserves the love of a forever family. This year, Brother Wolf will positively impact the lives of over 6,000 animals through our adoption, foster, trap-neuter-return, pet food pantry, pet transport and other programs.

Do I have to fundraise?

Event participants are not required to fundraise, but we encourage you to ask at least three people to support you as you run/walk to help animals in need. Brother Wolf will positively impact the lives of over 6,000 animals this year, and that important work only happens because of the support we receive from people like you. Challenge yourself to ask at least three people for $15. It’s all for the animals!

What food will be available at the event?

There will be a food truck in attendance offering lunch and drinks for sale.

Will there be alcohol at the event?

We are thrilled to have Run for the Paws at New Belgium Brewing Company! New Belgium will have beer for sale at the event. Must be 21 years old to consume alcohol.

Can I volunteer at the event?

Yes, please contact Brother Wolf’s Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@bwar.org for more information about volunteering at this event.

Who can I contact with additional questions?

Please use the Contact form on this website to get in touch with Leah Craig Fieser, Brother Wolf’s Event Director.
